Land Rover Discovery Wins Best Large SUV in Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2020
The winners of the Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2020 have been revealed, and the Land Rover Discovery has won the Best Large SUV award. One of the most important industry awards in the online space, the Carbuyer Best Car Awards recognise the very best cars from a variety of categories based on car type. Cars are judged across 21 categories, with Best City Car and Best Small Car among the other categories available to win. A car needs to be clearly above all others in its class to win the award, providing something unique that the other options don't offer.
In addition to the Best Large SUV award, there are separate categories for Best Small SUV and Best Medium SUV, this year won by the Skoda Kamiq and the Peugeot 3008, respectively. As a larger option for anyone seeking an SUV, the Land Rover Discovery has rightly scooped up the award in its category. Carbuyer has praised the car for its new lightweight and efficient design, and its greater ability. With seven seats, it clearly belongs in the Large SUV category, and Carbuyer notes its adaptability to any environment, from city to country. The Land Rover Discovery also picked up the same award in the 2019 awards, and the new design for 2020 has helped it to hold its place.
The Land Rover Discovery is available in S, SE and HSE trims, as well as HSE Luxury, Commercial, and the new Landmark Edition. The seven-seater size of this car is a real appeal to anyone with a large family, plenty of friends, a business to run, four-legged friends, or even just a lot of luggage. Intelligent seating offers comfort and versatility, with Intelligent Seat Fold coming standard with the HSE Luxury trim for easy seat configuration using the cargo space switches or touch screen. Technology includes the Head-up Display for key vehicle data, and the Land Rover iGuide app so you can quickly get to know your car.
The Discovery offers a powerful performance thanks to its fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0 litre Ingenium engine is the first 4-cylinder diesel that the brand is using in a full-size Land Rover. Dynamic Stability Control and Electronic Power Assisted Steering offer a smooth ride that puts the driver in full control. The all-terrain capability includes wading ability thanks to Wade Sensing, while features such as Terrain Response 2 ensure the vehicle is always prepared.
Staying safe and driving calmly is easy with the driver aids such as night-time driving assistance, lane keep assist, and front and rear parking aid. The Protect feature will even notify the emergency services if you are involved in an accident. Infotainment technology includes Touch Pro hardware and software, interactive driver display, smartphone pack, and rear-seat entertainment on some trims.
